THE MAIN ATTRACTION of the region of Valencia de Alcántara is without doubt the megalithic remains: 48 dolmens have been found in the municipal area, and others can be visited in the villages of the neighbourhood.
Other interesting places to visit are the Roman and Paleochristian remains and the Gothic Jewish Quarter, where you can visit the Synagogue and the beautiful Church of Nuestra Señora de Rocamador.
We cannot forget the natural surroundings with a high ecological value in the foothills of Sierra de San Pedro and in the closeness of the Nature Reserve of Serra de Sao Mamede (Portugal). Thanks to its microclimate, this region is the perfect place to rest.
